Why Alex Offers a Free Parenting Consultation Each Month

Alex recognises the privilege that comes with studying in her profession—and the added benefit this brings to her personal life. She also acknowledges that accessing private healthcare is not an option available to everyone. It’s these imbalances that inspired her to offer one free Parenting Consultation each month: a way to give back, share knowledge, and create a sense of community for parents and carers.

Alex has been practising psychotherapy for over 10 years. She has worked and trained extensively in the areas of:

  • Domestic abuse

  • Adoption

  • Neurodiversity

  • Trauma

With a wide and flexible skill set, Alex meets the diverse needs of the individuals and families she works with—and she would like to offer you the opportunity to access that support, for free..

What Can a Parenting Consultation Be Used For?

Parenting Consultations are often the first step in parenting counselling. They offer a space to explore your needs as a parent or carer and to gain a sense of direction—whether that’s for short-term support or something longer term.

In this free monthly offering, time is limited to just one appointment. To make the most of your session, you’ll be asked to complete a short pre-session questionnaire. This helps Alex get a clearer picture of your priorities, so the time can be focused and useful for you.

You can use your consultation for anything connected to your role as a parent or carer. Alex works from the belief that what’s helpful for you is helpful for your family.

Here are some ways people have used their free session so far:

  • Exploring how to support children with anxiety

  • Developing strategies to help Autistic and ADHD children feel more comfortable whilst out and about

  • Speaking to someone impartial—outside of family and social circles—about worries or concerns

  • Exploring your own mental health as a parent or carer

  • Requesting a guided meditation to support regulation (recorded for future use if desired)

  • Making sense of the emotional challenges of parenting

  • Co-creating tools and resources to support you or your child

Who Are The Consultations For?

Whether you're parenting a toddler, teen, or somewhere in between… whether your child has a diagnosis or you’re still exploring… this space is for you.

Testimonials:

“I contacted Alex for some help and support, and thank heavens I did. Alex helped me see through a child’s mind and together we worked out a way to tune into his imagination so he could access the support he needed” ~ Mum of an 8 year old.

“Alex is able to pull creative ideas together to match theory about mental health and child development so easily, and the ideas were based around the things we were already doing as a family, so it means we were able to get started straight away! ~ Mum of 4 year old

What Will You Get If You Subscribe?

The simple answer? Not a lot — at least, not regularly.

Alex doesn’t send frequent emails or polished newsletters (there’s not enough time for that bit). Ideally, there would be tips, blogs, or regular insights — and occasionally, there are. But it’s not often.

What you will hear about are things like her free Mindfulness Sessions, also held online. Just like the free parenting consultations, they’re offered as part of Alex’s commitment to give back and make support more accessible.

If anything’s going to land in your inbox, it’ll be something that might actually help.

* A Gentle Note -

This free consultation is not a crisis service or a replacement for long-term support. It’s a one-off session, designed to offer reflection, support and practical ideas. If you’re currently in crisis or need urgent support, please reach out to your GP or a relevant emergency service - see here for a list of helplines.
